The Government says that budgets for schools are increasing, which is accurate. However this hides the fact the growth in the number of pupils has grown faster proportionally.

So what is going in with School funding and what does it look like for the future? If you look at the international statistics, the UK doesn’t even make it into the top 30 for education spending as percentage of GDP, with countries such Sweden, Norway and Iceland topping the lists. Clearly, education spending is a choice that Governments have to make in balance against other competing priorities. We would argue that funds allocated for optional infrastructure projects and local Government excess should be reined in to increase the funding for the long term education of our young.
